Baby Blessings

Baby blessings and baby naming ceremonies are celebrated throughout the world – a time to welcome a new child into the community, into the family and to indeed welcome them to the world.

It is a time for family and friends to come together, picking godparents if you so choose to and gifting the baby with their name and then honouring them in a gathering to celebrate their life.

Choosing your Ceremony Style

You may choose to have an outside ceremony or indoors, in a village hall or a marque or even your back garden and people can bring symbolic gifts such a silver or ribbons, make vows to the child and welcome them into the fold, often sharing poems and sacred verse.

Pagan ceremonies introduce the baby to the Gods, Buddhists invite the monks into the house to chant to the baby and many cultures bless the child with Holy Water from Sacred Sites and wells.

Many would just like a simple ceremony to celebrate the birth of their baby.

The list of ideas and ways we can celebrate a baby ceremony can be as simple and as sacred as you want them to be.

As a Family Celebrant I can offer your ideas or work with those you have as a family.

It is a day to celebrate the joy of your new born child, may it be a special as you wish it to be.
